Following the sudden, and somewhat unexpected, departure of Filip Sandberg back to Sweden on Thursday morning, San Jose Barracuda general manager Joe Will filled the void by announcing the signing of forward Ivan Kosorenkov to an Standard Player Contract.
Last year, playing for the Victoriaville Tigres of the QMJHL, Kosorenkov tallied 82 points in total, ranking seventh in the entire league. He also led the Tigres in assists, with 46 apples.
The 6-foot Russian went undrafted, but previously earned professional try-outs with both the Philadelphia Flyers and the New York Islanders over the last two season.
