Roenick not liking Sharks chances if without Thornton, Couture

SAN JOSE — If they’re without Joe Thornton and Logan Couture, the Sharks are going to be in tough against a fast and hungry Edmonton Oilers team in their opening round playoff series, former Sharks and NBC Sports analyst Jeremy Roenick said.

The best-of-seven series begins Wednesday in Edmonton with Game 2 on Friday. The series shifts to San Jose for games 3 and 4 on Sunday and Tuesday, respectively.

The Sharks are scheduled to skate Monday at their practice facility and it’s unclear how much Thornton and Couture will be able to participate.

Couture, who was hurt in a March 25 game against Nashville when he caught a deflected puck to the face, has been skating in recent days but is still experiencing pain just breathing and eating.
