SAN JOSE — Sharks center Joe Thornton, it appears, is starting the season with a younger, more aerodynamic look.
From all indications on social media Monday, Thornton has shaved off his prodigious beard, or at least a good chunk of it.
Thornton, 39, has typically had a few whiskers throughout his time with the Sharks. During his the 2015-16 season, though, Thornton and Brent Burns began to grow out their facial hair more and more, until they became what Thornton called “lifestyle beards” after the end of the 2016 season when the Sharks advanced to the Stanley Cup Final.
