SAN JOSE — Reaching the NHL after breakout performances in the Sharks annual prospect showcase is becoming a tradition for the organization’s European free agent signees.
In 2015, Joonas Donskoi landed a spot on the Sharks roster after collecting three points in the team’s ‘futures game” with the Anaheim Ducks. Last year, Marcus Sorensen wormed his way onto the Sharks playoff roster after thriving in the team’s prospects games prior to training camp. Melker Karlsson played a key role on the Sharks top line during the 2014-15 season after he signed with the organization as a free agent out of the Swedish Hockey League earlier in the year.
