SAN JOSE – You don’t have to be Scotty Bowman, Toe Blake, or even Happy Gilmore to decipher what went wrong for the Sharks in their 6-3 home loss to Colorado on Monday.
The penalties were plentiful and the penalty kill putrid as Colorado pulverized the Sharks for four power play goals on six chances. It was the first time San Jose surrendered four power play goals against at home since March 15, 1997.
“We were just putting our sticks in the wrong spots, the refs were calling it, and we can’t take that many penalties,” Patrick Marleau said.
