Resurgent power play propels Barracuda to Game 2 win over Gulls

SAN JOSE — The power play awoke, Ryan Carpenter continued his playoff dominance and the Barracuda evened up their series with the San Diego Gulls.

After failing to turn a 38-16 shot advantage into a win Friday, the Barracuda capitalized on a resurgent performance from its power play in Game 2 of the Pacific Division Finals at the SAP Center Saturday, tying the series at 1-1 with a 5-1 win.

The power play came to life at 7:13 of the opening frame when Ryan Carpenter scored his league-leading sixth goal of the playoffs by beating goalie Jhonas Enroth on his stick side with a wrist shot from the right faceoff dot, giving the Barracuda a 2-0 lead.
