SAN JOSE — The Sharks are reportedly closing in on a contract extension with restricted free agent Timo Meier.
According to Pierre LeBrun of TSN and The Athletic, Meier and the Sharks have come to terms on a four-year contract that carries an average annual value of $6 million. The Sharks have yet to announce the deal.
Getting this deal done was a huge priority for the Sharks after they signed Erik Karlsson to an eight-year, $92 million contract two weeks ago. Meier, 22, is coming off a 30-goal season, and will be a fixture in the Sharks’ top six forward group for years to come.
