The Sharks have waived forward Adam Burish for the purposes of buying him out, according a report from Hockey Night in Canada’s Elliotte Friedman.
Burish, who was also waived on November 23, 2014, reassigned to Worcester and then loaned to AHL Chicago, had one year remaining on his contract for $1.85 million. He will carry a salary cap hit of $616,667 for the next two seasons.
The buyout will cost the Sharks $1,233,333 – two-thirds what Burish was due.
It’s been assumed for months now that Burish had played his last game in San Jose, as the Sharks chose to quickly distance themselves from the 32-year-old early last season.
