Report: Sharks’ assistant to be named Florida Panthers head coach

SAN JOSE — The Sharks will reportedly have to begin searching for a new assistant coach.

Bob Boughner, who spent the past two seasons as an assistant under Pete DeBoer, is expected to be announced as the new coach of the Florida Panthers on Monday, TSN’s Bob McKenzie tweeted.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel also reported that a deal between the Panthers and Boughner is expected to be finalized on Monday. Boughner would be the Panthers’ 15th head coach in their history.

Boughner’s primary duties with the Sharks were working with the defenseman and coordinating the penalty kill.
