The 2015–16 San Jose Sharks will not go 82–0. In the second game of their five-game east coast road trip, the Sharks (2–1–0) dropped a 7–4 decision to the New York Rangers (2–1–0). Brent Burns scored twice and Logan Couture and Joe Pavelski added goals of their own, but it wasn't enough to overcome sloppy play by San Jose in its own end.
Marc Staal put the Rangers up 1–0 twelve minutes into the game, one-timing a puck past Martin Jones. Jimmy Vesey, the Rangers' big offseason addition, got the play started after being knocked down by Brent Burns behind the net, and Mats Zuccarello may have screened Jones on the play as he streaked in front of the net.
