Joe Thornton was taunted on the ice Saturday night. Photographers near the ice heard the heckling. The voices came from people wearing Edmonton jerseys, giving the business to Thornton as the Oilers eliminated the Sharks from their first round playoff series.
“You should retire!” one voice yelled at Thornton. “You’re an old man! Quit!”
Thornton will not quit. Thornton does not want to quit. A hockey player that wants to quit would not have returned for the first round of the playoffs after suffering a significant knee injury in the regular season’s last week.
