Pizarro: San Jose’s Fountain Alley gets a Sharks teal makeover

Related Topics: Makeover, Alley

We’re all bummed about the Sharks’ early exit from the NHL playoffs, but the Sharks Foundation is still doing its part to paint the town teal. Sharks Chief Operating Officer John Tortora joined a team of volunteers from the San Jose Downtown Association and artist enclave Local Color as they spruced up downtown’s Fountain Alley.

The makeover includes blue and white lighting, strings of teal, gray and black pennants and teal-colored planter boxes stenciled with our favorite aquatic predator. For years, Fountain Alley’s been a magnet for crime, and it’s hoped that the new and improved look, especially the lighting, will provide a safer and more interesting atmosphere for pedestrians.
