SAN JOSE — Leon Draisaitl won’t be missing any action for spearing Sharks center Chris Tierney in the groin Tuesday night.
The NHL Department of Player Safety fined the Edmonton Oilers forward $2,569.44 Wednesday, the maximum allowable under the league’s collective-bargaining agreement with the Players’ Association.
Draisaitl received a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct at 13:44 of the second period in Game 4 of the Sharks first round Stanley Cup playoff series with the Oilers Tuesday for using his stick to spear Tierney in the groin after frustrations boiled over with his team trailing by a 5-0 score.
