NHL Draft 2017: San Jose Sharks select Joshua Norris with No. 19 overall pick

The Sharks’ first pick in the 2017 NHL Draft is center Joshua Norris, selected 19th overall. He played with the U.S. National Under-18 Team this past year, posting seven points in seven games during the Under-18 World Juniors Championship and 61 points in 61 games with the USDP. Norris is 6’1”, 192 lbs, and shoots left.

The highest ranking for Norris was 21st, from Craig Button. His final ISS ranking was 23rd.

Norris is described as a two-way forward and a play maker, something the Sharks are likely looking to create internally, as their core play makers take a step back.
