NHL: Canadiens skate past Senators

Tomas Plekanec scored twice in the first period and Mike Condon made 19 saves in his NHL debut Sunday to help the Montreal Canadiens beat the Ottawa Senators 3-1.

Condon allowed only Jean-Gabriel Pageau’ shorthanded goal midway through the second period in the Senators’ home opener. Torrey Mitchell added a goal for Montreal in the third.

Matt O’Connor made 31 saves for Ottawa.

Briefly: Boston forward Brad Marchand will be out indefinitely because of a concussion, head coach Claude Julien told NHL.com. Marchand was hurt Saturday when he took an elbow to the head from Montreal’s Dale Weise.
