The Pacific Division team with Sharks players Brent Burns, Joe Pavelski and Martin Jones didn’t get the result it wanted Sunday in the final of the 3-on-3 tournament at the 2017 NHL All-Star Game.
But for the second straight year, the game came right down to the final seconds.
Goals by Cam Atkinson of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Wayne Simmonds of the Philadephia Flyers just five seconds apart gave the Metropolitan Division a lead that it would never relinquish in a 4-3 win over the Pacific all-stars at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Simmonds, who scored with 4:58 left in the second 10-minute half, was named the game’s MVP.
