SAN JOSE — The same two words kept popping up as the Barracuda described their Game 1 loss to the San Diego Gulls: missed opportunity.
The Barracuda coughed up a chance to get the early upper hand in their second round Calder Cup playoff series with the Gulls Friday, giving away a 2-1 lead with less than four minutes remaining in the third period of a game they dominated with a 38-16 shot edge.
The Gulls eventually won the game just 38 seconds into overtime when Kevin Roy converted a breakaway chance after defenseman Tim Heed miss timed a poke check attempt at the offensive blue line.
