The Kings placed Devin Setoguchi on waivers Sunday, ending what has been one of the nicer stories of the 2016-17 season. Setoguchi has 12 points in 45 games in a comeback season that saw him rebound from personal lows to get back into the NHL. If he isn’t claimed, he’ll report to the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League.
A points-per-game mark of 0.27 isn’t anything to write home about (he posted a 0.36 mark in his last full season in Winnipeg in 2013-14) but it’s surprising to see Setoguchi waived given some of the other forwards on the Kings’ roster.
