SAN JOSE — Sharks forward Joel Ward suffered what looked like an upper body injury midway through Thursday’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
With 12:20 to go in the second period, Ward was chasing after a loose puck in the Knights’ zone when he was hit hard into the boards defenseman Nate Schmidt. Ward appeared to favor his right shoulder as he stayed on the ice for several moments and was led off by Sharks trainer Ray Tufts.
At the end of the second period, there was no immediate update on whether Ward would be able to return.
