Joe Thornton had an arthroscopic procedure on his knee; no timeline for return

Per General Manager Doug Wilson, Sharks forward Joe Thornton underwent an arthroscopic procedure late this afternoon to address an issue with his right medial collateral ligament (MCL). There is no timetable set for his return to play at this time.

Arthroscopic procedures take less than an hour and are usually done to determine the extent of the damage done to the ligament to prepare for a surgical procedure. It’s done by making small incisions to the knee and inserting a small camera to look inside.

This likely means that Jumbo is preparing for a larger procedure and will miss a significant amount of time.
