Ryan Strome and Johnny Boychuk scored in the third period as the host New York Islanders beat the league-leading Washington Capitals 3-2 on Tuesday night.
The Islanders improved to 5-0-1 under interim coach Doug Weight and have points in seven straight games to pull themselves out of the cellar and into the Eastern Conference playoff picture.
