RALEIGH, NC –- Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Matt Tennyson on a one-year, two-way contract. The deal will pay Tennyson $675,000 on the NHL level or $275,000 in the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2016-17.
“Matt gives us added depth on the blueline, as a right-shot defenseman who has proven he can play at the NHL level,” said Francis.
Tennyson, 26, appeared in a career-high 29 NHL games for the San Jose Sharks in 2015-16, totaling four points (1g, 3a), and also played five games for the Sharks’ AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda.
