Vegas’ Mark Stone had a goal and an assist and the Golden Knights made Peter DeBoer’s debut behind their bench a success with a 4-2 win over the Senators in Ottawa on Thursday night.
Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 33 shots for the Knights, who snapped a four-game losing streak a day after firing head coach Gerard Gallant.
DeBoer, who until Dec. 11 had been coaching the Sharks, didn’t have a lot of time to settle in as he met with the team briefly Thursday morning and then prepared for the game.
“I told them if I call any of them Jumbo or Burnsie to kick me,” joked DeBoer in reference to Sharks players Joe Thornton and Brent Burns.
