Former Sharks goalie Reimer signs with Panthers

James Reimer has officially moved on from the Sharks, reportedly signing a five-year, $17 million contract with the Florida Panthers.

The 28-year-old goalie was acquired by San Jose on Feb. 27, and posted a stellar 6-2-0 record with a 1.62 goals-against average and .938 save percentage in eight regular season games with the Sharks, giving starter Martin Jones some much needed rest before the postseason.

The Sharks are thought to be searching for a backup goalie to replace Reimer now that free agency season opened at 9 a.m. PT.

Along with Reimer, nine other Sharks became unrestricted free agents on Friday morning: Aaron Dell, Micheal Haley, Bryan Lerg, John McCarthy, Frazer McLaren, Roman Polak, Nick Spaling, Karl Stollery and Dainius Zubrus.
