Flames outlast Penguins for 10th consecutive win

Kris Versteeg scored the shootout winner Monday as the host Calgary Flames beat Pittsburgh 4-3 to tie their franchise record with a 10th straight victory.

The Atlanta Flames won 10 games in a row, Oct. 14 to Nov. 3, 1978.

Calgary’s first shooter, Versteeg moved in slowly and made a nifty deke before zipping a shot high on goalie Marc-Andre Fleury.

Calgary goalie Brian Elliott stopped Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby and Phil Kessel to clinch the win. Elliott also made 32 saves in regulation and overtime as he improved to 13-1-1 in his past 15 decisions.
