In an effort to break the doldrums of a long season late in Ron Wilson’s 4½ years behind the Sharks’ bench, he cranked up Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” following an off-day practice. The tune blared throughout the team’s locker room, the adjoining hall and the lounge — and it probably could be heard even across the street on the outskirts of San Jose State.
Team members, several decades younger than their fun-loving coach, had a good time chiding Wilson for his taste in rap. In the end, the coach accomplished exactly what he wanted: lighten the mood and break the monotony.
