San Jose Sharks left wing Evander Kane has been fined $5,000 for last night’s high hit on Radko Gudas, the NHL announced Wednesday.
Following the hit, Gudas’ head hit the boards and he was slow to get up. Gudas left the bench soon after. Kane received 15 penalty minutes for the hit: a major penalty for elbowing and a game misconduct. As a result of the penalties, the Sharks played the final five minutes of the game on the penalty kill.
The fine is the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement and less than one percent of Kane’s $7 million season salary.
