Ducks fail to gain on Sharks, but Flames don’t

In his first NHL start in 16 months, Vancouver’s Richard Bachman made 43 saves as the Canucks beat the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 on Sunday night.

Anaheim’s three-game home winning streak ended as the Ducks, now tied with the Flames for third place in the Pacific Division, remained seven points behind the first-place Sharks.

“There’s always a reason to be concerned when you didn’t play to the level of which we’re capable of playing, simple as that,” Anaheim head coach Randy Carlyle said. “We just didn’t do enough of the good things we have been preaching.
