Here’s an arcane statistic: On those rare nights when Logan Couture, Tomas Hertl, Evander Kane, Erik Karlsson and Radim Simek were all in the lineup at the same time during the 2019-20 season, the Sharks’ record was 11-6-3.
The reoccurring problem, of course, came when those players were injured or unavailable, which all too often exposed the Sharks’ fragile depth, particularly up front. The Sharks finished their season at 29-36-5, and are preparing to watch the NHL playoffs just like everyone else.
General manager Doug Wilson will be looking to add to the Sharks’ depth whenever the NHL’s offseason begins, and has expressed his interest in acquiring a forward.
