Dell shines, but Sharks lose to Flyers 2-1 in OT

PHILADELPHIA — One of the questions the Sharks face over the next three weeks is whether to acquire a backup goalie with years of NHL experience for the stretch run.

Even in a loss, Aaron Dell did what he could Saturday to show once again that he’s up to the task.

Dell finished 33 saves and Patrick Marleau scored a power play goal, his 20th of the season, but Wayne Simmonds scored just 1:04 into overtime to give the Philadelphia Flyers a 2-1 win at Wells Fargo Center.

Brent Burns lost control of the puck in the neutral zone, Simmonds took control and went in on Dell, where he beat the Sharks goalie with a backhand to forehand move to hand San Jose its fourth straight loss.
