Although Pavelski seems like the most likely captain to many pundits, it’s impossible to know if DeBoer is thinking along those same lines.
SAN JOSE – The morning of the Sharks’ season opener on Oct. 8 in Los Angeles last season, now former coach Todd McLellan still didn’t want to say who would be wearing letters as part of the team’s official leadership group.
When one reporter joked that the media should take out binoculars in the press box for warmups, McLellan replied: “Did you guys bring ‘em? Pull ‘em out. We’re ready to play.”
That won’t be the case this year, as new coach Pete DeBoer said that the team will reveal its decision on the new captain and his alternates at least a day in advance.
