Connor McDavid too much for Sharks in 3-2 loss to Oilers

EDMONTON, Alberta — The Sharks came away from Thursday night with a real clear understanding of what works against the Edmonton Oilers.

There’s still no way, it seems, to completely slow down Connor McDavid.

The Sharks controlled large stretches of the first and second periods but didn’t have an answer for McDavid, who had one assist and one dazzling shorthanded goal to lead the Oilers to a 3-2 win at Rogers Place.

Patrick Maroon scored twice, including the winner 7:51 into the third period, as the Oilers took over sole possession of second place in the Pacific Division with 95 points.
