SAN JOSE — The Sharks just made franchise history by winning a playoff game by seven goals.
But seeing the Sharks’ top defense pair shut down an opposing team’s leading scorer isn’t such a rare occurrence. It’s been happening more often than not over the Sharks’ last five playoff rounds.
Connor McDavid is the latest elite forward to be smothered by the Sharks, as defensemen Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Justin Braun and goalie Martin Jones continue to limit the effectiveness of the Edmonton Oilers captain.
McDavid had two shots on goal and had two other shot attempts blocked in the Sharks’ 7-0 win over the Oilers on Tuesday, as San Jose leveled the series at two wins apiece.
