SAN JOSE — After a decade of playoff disappointments, it seemed like the Sharks had finally found the missing ingredient with a slick trade in the summer of 2015.
Martin Jones opened his career with the Sharks by setting a franchise-record shutout streak of 234:33 during his first week on the job. Later, in the spring, he led the Sharks to their first appearance in the Stanley Cup Final, recording a .923 save percentage in 24 games. The future looked bright. At 26, Jones had the potential to give the Sharks years of stability in the one position they could never seem to completely secure.
