Budaj, Carter lead Kings over Flyers in OT, 5th win in row

Jeff Carter doesn’t know where the Kings would be without goalie Peter Budaj. They probably could say the same about Carter.

Budaj posted his NHL-leading seventh shutout, Carter scored his 27th goal of the season at 2:35 of overtime, and Los Angeles beat the Flyers 1-0 on Saturday in Philadelphia for its fifth win a row.

Budaj, who wasn’t on the Kings’ roster on opening night, extended his shutout streak to 144 minutes, 5 seconds. He made 17 saves.

“To be honest with you, if he wasn’t playing how he is, we wouldn’t be in the position we are,” Carter said.
