ANAHEIM — Sharks coach Pete DeBoer had a meeting recently with Brent Burns and — as odd as it sounds — emphasized to the 2017 Norris Trophy winner the need for him to shoot the puck on a more consistent basis.
Burns responded with nine shots on goal in Game 1 against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday to set a new personal career-playoff high, with his second period goal capping the scoring in a 3-0 Sharks win. Game 2 is Saturday at Honda Center, with games 3 and 4 next week in San Jose.
