Alexander Wennberg’s power-play goal with 53.6 seconds remaining gave the Columbus Blue Jackets their fourth straight win, 3-2 at Washington on Sunday.
After the Capitals’ Nicklas Backstrom was called for high-sticking with 1:34 remaining, Wennberg took a pass from Nick Foligno and slammed the puck past goalie Braden Holtby.
“Find a way to win,” Wennberg said. “It’s as easy as that.”
Alex Ovechkin’s ninth goal of the season midway through the second period gave the Capitals a 2-1 lead, but the Blue Jackets tied it 14 seconds into the third on Brandon Dubinsky’s second goal of the season.
