1. Upset of Detroit
Jamie Baker’s tie-breaking goal in the third period — commonly referred to as the biggest goal in club history — gave underdog San Jose a shocking 3-2 win over top-seeded and host Detroit in Game 7 of a 1994 first-round series, the Sharks’ first playoff appearance. Their third season, and first in San Jose, started with the Sharks going 0-8-1.
2. A Jumbo JOE blockbuster
The franchise changed forever Nov. 30, 2005, when Marco Sturm, Brad Stuart and Wayne Primeau were pulled from pregame warm-ups in Dallas and told they’d been traded to Boston in exchange for Joe Thornton.
