2017 NHL Draft: Sharks select Jacob McGrew in sixth round

Using a pick acquired from the Coyotes, the Sharks selected winger Jacob McGrew in the sixth round, 159th overall.

From Orange, California, McGrew played with the L.A. Junior Kings for two years before making his way to the Spokane Chiefs of the WHL. Unfortunately, a lower body injury kept him from seeing any ice time in the WHL.

McGrew is a right-handed shot. His tournament play has seen him average over a point per game. With the U.S. Under 17 Select Team, he scored an overtime goal against Slovakia and totaled nine points in five games.

It’s probable the Sharks have kept an eye on his progress.
