SAN JOSE — When the Earthquakes selected midfielder Jackson Yueill with the sixth overall pick in January’s MLS draft, they did so knowing that they had the luxury of having a surplus of quality players at the position.
Due to a multitude of players either dealing with injuries or just returning from international play, that surplus of midfielders grew thin, requiring Yueill to be called upon. Having gained experience playing with the club’s United Soccer League affiliate Reno 1896 FC, Yueill wasted no time to make an impact.
Making his professional debut, the rookie found the back of the net in the fourth minute for his first career goal in Wednesday’s 2-0 victory over the San Francisco Deltas in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.
