On Sept. 30, Earthquakes Academy alumnus Diego Alonso scored the game-winner in Cal Poly's 1-0 win over UC Santa Barbara. The 'Blue-Green' rivalry match proved to be one of Cal Poly's biggest sporting events of the year, drawing a sellout crowd of 11,075 fans to Alex G. Spanos Stadium. Alonso found the back of the net in the 65th minute of the match, bringing thousands of Cal Poly fans to their feet. The match's 11,075 fans was the largest of the season and tied the NCAA's 14th largest regular-season attendance in men's soccer history.
