Three Earthquakes make season debuts against German club

SAN JOSE — Chris Wondolowski scored his fifth goal in four games Friday night while new designated player Valeri Qazaishvili made his Earthquakes’ debut and previously injured Quincy Amarikwa and Marc Pelosi appeared for the first time this year in an exhibition at Avaya Stadium.

The Quakes routed German club Eintracht Frankfurt 4-1 in front of a crowd of 14,355 fans as San Jose scored on two penalty kicks and got an own goal.

Qazaishvili saw his first action after arriving last weekend as the team’s new attacking midfielder. In a surprise, coach Chris Leitch also played Amarikwa (knee surgery) and Pelosi (knee).
