Just a day after trading midfielder Darwin Ceren to the Houston Dynamo, the San Jose Earthquakes have found his replacement in former New York Cosmos midfielder Eric Calvillo.
Calvillo, who has featured for the U.S. youth national teams at the U-15, U-17 and U-19 levels, joined the Cosmos as an 18 year old in 2016 and has featured in 19 games, 14 of them starts, for the 2017 NASL championship runners-up. Just 20 years of age, the Palmdale, California native is still developing as a professional.
“Eric is a player that we have identified as a highly talented prospect,” said Earthquakes general manager Jesse Fioranelli in a statement released by the team.
