San Jose Earthquakes’ Marcos Lopez out after surgery

The San Jose Earthquakes announced Wednesday that defender Marcos Lopez is slated to miss 2-4 weeks after undergoing surgery to remove his appendix Tuesday in Orlando.

Lopez, 20, has yet to make his season debut in 2020, after being away on international duty at the start of the season before the coronavirus shutdown occurred. The Peruvian made 18 appearances for San Jose in 2019, the left back getting some real burn while adjusting to the MLS game.

Nick Lima started at left back those opening two games and could continue his run as an inverted fullback there in the MLS is Back Tournament.
