San Jose Earthquakes have no answer in another bad defeat to LAFC

The San Jose Earthquakes dropped their third consecutive game in a 5-1 defeat to Los Angeles FC on Wednesday night in what was the team’s worst outing of the year.

Diego Rossi scored twice to boost his MLS-leading goals total to nine. LAFC (3-2-3) improved to 5-0 all-time against San Jose, which has been outscored in those games by a combined 20-4. Danny Hoesen scored his first goal of the season for the Quakes (2-3-2) in stoppage time.

Los Angeles played without Mexican star Carlos Vela, who is sidelined with an MCL knee injury. But one of Major League Soccer’s best players was not needed against a shaky San Jose defense that struggled to handle LAFC’s high press.
