MINNEAPOLIS — The dogpile after Florian Jungwirth’s second-half goal wasn’t big enough for center back Victor Bernardez, who turned and waved for more Quakes teammates to join in.
And why not? Jungwirth’s sliding left-footed goal, in the 54th minute, was the first for the punchless Quakes on this three-game road trip. That proved just enough for the Quakes to beat the expansion Minnesota United 1-0 on Saturday night at chilly TCF Bank Stadium, ending a nine-match road winless streak stretching to last season.
Jungwirth converted a pass from Chris Wondolowski to end a run of 233 scoreless minutes for the Quakes (3-3-3) since Jahmir Hyka’s stoppage time goal against FC Dallas on April 14.
