With three weeks remaining in their preseason, the San Jose Earthquakes continue their preparations for their 2018 MLS season opener today with a friendly against their USL affiliate Reno 1868 FC. The match is the first of the season at Avaya Stadium, and it marks the home debut of new head coach Mikael Stahre.
The Quakes played two friendlies already this preseason — a scoreless draw against the Portland Timbers and a 1-1 draw against Real Salt Lake — on their recently concluded trip to Tuscon, Arizona. Stahre used his entire roster against the Timbers, almost repeating the feat against RSL, as he continues to look for the starting line-up that will face Minnesota United on March 3 in the season opener.
