SAN JOSE — The San Jose Earthquakes had to settle for a 1-1 tie with the Columbus Crew on Saturday night, ending their four-match winning streak.
Magnus Eriksson converted a penalty kick in the 41st minute in the match played at Avaya Stadium, and Daniel Vega did not record an official save for the Earthquakes (11-7-5, 38 points), who were thwarted in their bid to equal a franchise-best five-match winning streak (2005).
Gyasi Zardes scored his team-leading eighth goal in the 65th minute as the Crew rallied for the draw.
Eloy Room made four saves for the Crew (7-14-4, 25 points), which improved to 2-0-2 in its past four matches after going 0-8-1 in their previous nine.
