The San Jose Earthquakes announced forward Danny Hoesen had surgery Friday to repair tears to his oblique and adductor muscles.
The club says he is expected to miss the rest of the regular season, which is scheduled to end Nov. 8.
The 29-year-old is in his fourth season with the Earthquakes. He has one goal in eight regular-season appearances this season, but Hoesen has firmly been a bench option in Matias Almeyda’s tenure as head coach in San Jose and it’s unclear if injury has held him back or if he’s not considered a starter by the current boss.
