Report: Quakes Targeting Liga MX’s Darwin Quintero

According to a Monday report from ESPN’s Jeff Carlisle, the San Jose Earthquakes are in the early stages of preparing an offer for Club America striker Darwin Quintero.

Quintero is a top target for San Jose, according to the report, which cited multiple league sources that said the Quakes are prepared to assemble a financial package to present to the 29-year-old. The transfer fee and salary will both be in the multi-million dollar range, according to Carlisle’s report.

Named after famed scientist Charles Darwin by his parents, Quintero has spent the majority of his professional career in Liga MX, playing for the Santos Laguna side from 2009 through 2014, and at Club America since 2015.
